How to Make the Ultimate Grilled Cheese Sandwich

Here it is: our ultimate guide to making the best grilled cheese sandwich.

What’s our secret? Queso Tencho of course!

What you will need:

        Great quality bread

        Salted Butter

An amazing melting cheese like Springdale Farm Queso Tencho

Optional – a tasty schmear like Springdale Farm Cream Cheese

Skillet or pan with a cover (a panini press works great too)

The Bread:  Choose a hearty flavorful bread.  I like to use a Country Sourdough style.  Plenty of flavor, but not overpowering.

The Butter:  Buttering your pan or skillet with salted butter will make for a crunchy, golden brown sandwich and add a buttery flavor.

The Cheese:  The perfect kind of cheese will melt easily and stretch when you bite into the sandwich.  We are partial to our Springdale Farm Queso Tencho.  It really is the perfect melting cheese for a grilled cheese sandwich.   Pro tip:  the cheese should be shredded for improved melt-ability.  Want to jazz it up even more?  Add a schmear of our fresh cream cheese like Everything or Sriracha Jalapeno to go with the Queso.  Now you’re talking ooey, gooey melty goodness!

Assemble the sandwich:  Cover the bottom piece of bread with shredded Queso Tencho.  (Optional:  schmear the top slice with your favorite flavor of Springdale fresh cream cheese).  Place top bread on the cheese.

Heat the skillet:  Heat a skillet or pan on the stove to medium heat.  Melt 1 tablespoon of butter on the pan.

Cook the sandwich:  Place the sandwich on the melted butter and cover for about 5 minutes or until the bottom of the sandwich is golden brown.  Flip and repeat.  Be sure that the cheese has melted.

One important trick is not overheating your pan - give the cheese a chance to melt and the butter to form a toasty crisp on the bread without over-doing it.

Cut on the diagonal and enjoy!

The most fun part about Queso Tencho is its stretchy meltiness, you’ll be hooked!
